The conference was preceded on Tuesday 3rd September 2019 by a PhD workshop, where pre-selected PhD students were invited to present their papers or projects. Faculty and senior researchers from Alliance Universities provided feedback, as well as advice on research, publications, and careers.
​
The conference was proceeded on Friday 6th September for the Alliance Organising Committee and Alliance strategy sessions on key areas of future cooperation. There was als a debrief on the 2nd Annual Conference and a discussion of plans for the 3rd Annual Conference hosted by Columbia University in 2020.
